Simple Strategies for Success

Latinos are the fastest growing ethnic minority in the United States.  With the labor pool at an all-time shallow level in most geographic areas, there emerges a new constituent in our organizations, The Latino workforce.
National trends; according to the North Carolina Humanities Council, show that within the next five years the Hispanic population is expected to increase by over 230%.

With this influx of Hispanic employees in our workforce, it becomes essential for supervisors to fully understand the critical differences in our cultures and subsequent work ethics.

Specific issues addressed are:

  • Differences between our cultures

  • Differences in communication style

  • Differences in concepts and approaches to: Power Distance, Individualism, Uncertainty Avoidance,  and Masculinity

  • Convenient work-related Spanish phrases

Supervisors quickly develop a keen awareness and learn to value the differences in the workforce cultural diversities.

Participants will have increased sensitivity, familiarization, and awareness of the Hispanic culture and work ethic.  This development clearly explains cultural differences and sheds new light on employee sensitivities in the workplace.
